Evaluation
Identifying problems:
All arrival, departure and passing times are recorded for every train during the simulation. The record of this data is the base for the evaluation. It is not required to work through all the data for the evaluation of the simulation runs. The Performance Evaluator offers a multitude of options for the preparation and display of the simulation results. This RailSys module highlights the constraints of a timetable in a clear fashion through various display options. The RailSys timetabling package also includes the tools for the statistical evaluation of the scheduled timetable.
Timetable statistics:
The occupation levels of individual track segments within the network can be accurately displayed for the scheduled timetable as well as for the simulated operation. Single links can be selected for precise analysis in the network view. All trains that use the link during the evaluation period are listed. The list can be sorted by any parameter, such as train class, occupation time, direction of travel, and others. And the list can be exported to Excel or as csv-file for further processing. The occupation is graphically displayed in total numbers, summarising an entire day, as well as in bar charts for discrete time intervals.
Simulation statistics:
Bar charts with a variety of delay data can be displayed for all stations after a simulation run. The charts can be customised for selected trains or groups of trains, specific delay information or time periods. The delay propagation along a line is well presented, with each change of punctuality clearly indicated.
Network graphs:
Display the delay propagation directly along the tracks in the network model. This is another way to clearly display delay propagation. The delay distribution diagrams with added delays cater for the evaluation of punctuality or on time running (OTR). The OTR diagrams support the prediction of punctuality levels for new timetables or timetable alterations. The achieved connections can be evaluated for individual trains or groups of trains through extensive log files. The relative number of satisfactory connections is assessable and the reasons for potential underachievement can be identified. This enables the planner to initiate actions to improve performance to the satisfaction of the customers!
Rolling stock circulation plans:
The results of the operational simulation indicate the feasibility of the planned rolling stock circulation at an early stage. Any cause, such as insufficient travel time allowances, can be cured before the timetable is actually implemented.
