RailSys Enterprise – Planning platform

The single/multi-user system

Solution for Infrastructure data management, Timetable construction/slotmanagement, Track possession planning, Simulation

Introduction

Train operators and network providers are interested in the growth of rail traffic. This can be achieved by increasing the number of passengers and amount of goods transported. At the same time the operation should become more efficient.

Two main aspects are predominant for achieving the goal:
  • Increased revenue based on additional transport volume
  • Reduced expenditure as a result of streamlined design of assets
Both strategies have to be considered in the entire context; potential solutions should not be one-sided. We are pleased to introduce RailSys, a product that supports your activities in a very comfortable way with a multitude of additional features. The latest development of our software assists with the assessment of capacity, elimination of bottle necks within the infrastructure and operation, the evaluation of variants and discovery of conflicts.

RailSys 8 Classic | RailSys 8 Enterprise

The planning platform as single or multi-user capable system solution for a networkwide and entire timetable and infrastructure management with the following system components:
  • Infrastructure data management
  • Timetable construction/slot management
  • Track possession planning “run and construct”
  • Simulation
  • Print, evaluation and documentation

Range of application

Timetable design and construction: Complete train patterns for entire days are easily created with the Timetable Manager. The train routes are interactively specified within a network graph. RailSys automatically calculates and evaluates the running times, block occupation and conflicts with other trains networkwide as soon as a train is entered or edited.

Assessment of the operational quality: The timetable works in theory? No day is like another one in real life. Small and large perturbations cause delays. The Simulation Manager simulates a variety of operational days with realistic and individual delay characteristics. The Evaluation Manager supports the assessment of the simulation results. Various statistics provide dependable information about delays, resulting punctuality, or the quality of connections within the network, lines or stations.

Infrastructure planning: The Infrastructure Manager is designed for accurately capturing, editing and managing all infrastructures of any size. Infrastructure can be entered as a draft. The comfortable editing functions allow for easy updates. Changing infrastructure designs are captured in multiple variants. The variants are used for timetable construction, possession planning, simulation and operational comparison of different planning stages with the Timetable and Simulation Manager.

Operational planning for track work: Building new or maintaining existing infrastructure often causes deteriorated conditions for train operation. The Timetable Manager evaluates and precisely locates the resulting conflicts. The user can interactively alter the train schedule in accordance with the track work, or reroute trains within the network. Any time penalties as well as the remaining train path options are displayed in tabular or graphical form for trouble-free operations planning during track work.

RailSys Map - Information platform

Integrated management of timetable paths and infrastructure data for the entire planning and operations process

Information portal for a web-based visualisation of
  • Network infrastructure
  • Timetable data
  • Operational data

Area of application

RailSys can manage infrastructure data with a high level of detail for entire networks in different displays (network, route, station). The graphical display of all network data is possible with RailSys Map either through a company intranet or the internet. For example, the location of track blockings or temporary low speed sections can be displayed for an entire network, or parts of it, for any time period. Furthermore it is possible to display timetable data, train runs and timetable statistics. The viewer only needs a web browser.

Key benefits

The planning of construction and maintenance work within a rail network is often performed for small areas and for individual activities. It is now possible to display all individual activities with RailSys Map in order to gain an overview. It is possible to specify the access rights for individual users and restrict the information and level of detail that can be displayed. The users can freely navigate through the map or look for selected items with a search function. Due to the intuitive user interface training is not necessary.

Network infrastructure data repository

  • Existing infrastructure (tracks, points, crossings, signalling, stations)
  • Access restrictions (temporary speed restrictions, blockings)
  • Buildings
  • Regulation framework

Information process

  • Registration
  • Specification of rights
